Chad Aronen - Coach Girls 16U & 18U

Chad first began water polo with Navy Aquatics at ten years of age. A club swimmer from kindergarten years, Chad trained under Mike Schofield (USNA Water Polo Coach) and went on to be a member of a 15 and under Junior Olympics champion team (1988) with team Annapolis. From there he moved out west to Poway, California and started for the Poway High varsity water polo team his sophomore, junior, and senior years. Chad is a 2-time High School All American in water polo, one of only seven Poway
High polo athletes to have multiple honors for this award. He was also a member of the Poway varsity swim team that earned CIF titles in ’89, ’90, and ’91. One of Chad’s greatest honors was being selected
for the Men’s National Junior Team in 1990, an experience where he trained with the top twenty athletes in the nation, under Coach Ricardo Azevedo, and participated in the Can Am Games that same year.

After playing at Grossmont Community College, Chad went to SDSU earning a B.S. in Kinesiology and a PE teaching credential. He then went on to earn a Masters of Science in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University. His coaching career has been mainly with Poway Valley (’99-present), but has also coached for San Diego Shores, Rancho San Diego Water Polo, Valhalla High School, as well as U.S. Pacific Southwest Zone Youth Water Polo Assistant Coach. Chad Aronen is currently coaching for Poway High (Boy’s & Girl’s Varsity Head Coach), Poway Valley Water Polo, and Assistant Coach for Grossmont Community College Men’s Swim Team.
